Here I come, on my horse, on my horse!

So then, since I last blogged I have (and sorry Facebook friends for boring you now) made some bunting. It was for a barn dance at church, and given that the church is quite big the bunting needed to be 100 meters long. I glibly said "no problem, I can make it, when do you need it by?" before embarking on cutting fabric from Shepherds Bush into triangles. 900 triangles. I had about 3 weeks to do it but one of those weeks was half term so it ended up being a bit frantic and daunting. Anyway, me and my cutting mat and sewing machine spent a lot of time together and it all got done in time. I had some lovely compliments on it and was even presented with a bouquet at the end of the barn dance which raised over £3000 for Reckless Giving so it's all good. Here we are enjoying the festivities. There was a band with a caller and it was SO much fun! Dancing is good for the soul.

That same day Chris entered the pancake race on Connaught Street and can be seen here taking the victory from a priest in cassock and trainers. Sorry Brutus, but competitiveness is Chris's THING.

I had a most enjoyable day out with Emma at the Knitting & Stitching show at Olympia where I blew my birthday money on this stash of AMAZING fabric. Just owning it makes me feel enriched... I am so sad, I know. But if it makes any difference we were swigging cans of G&T inside. I am planning to make more quilts. I have only made one so far, a weeny floor mat one for Mia's baby Arthur, but found the whole process very absorbing and fun, so am ready for more.

She'll tell me off for this but we tried MANY times to get a pic of us both looking reasonable. I LIKE this one!

There was another night out when we went to a "Come Dressed As  A London Underground" party. I hope I don't have to tell anyone what my costume is supposed to represent. In fact, ten points to anyone who can identify all our stations (who didn't know already).

We were trying to nibble Sue's baps, hence the hilarity.
The warmer weather has meant a seasonal return to the square garden for afternoon frolics. Or grumps in Brooke's case in this picture.

Never happier..except when she has sweets.
There's also been the usual day to day stuff, school runs, church (love this pic of Taya with Millie and Grace), endless cooking and TV watching and the shouts of excitement when we see the truck with this picture of a land made of food about the locality. The girls get very animated and shout out "Bread World!" and "Cheese City!" Wondering if anyone else's kids find this as entertaining?!
I've also witnessed a row of dresses in H&M doing a Mexican wave as Taya travelled through the inside length of the display stand. Brooke has cried at seeing an appeal for children in Syria on TV and reinvented the Star Wars Imperial March with the superb lyrics "Here I come on my horse, on my horse." and Taya has signed for the delivery of our groceries from Tesco by writing TAYA and then drawing a stick girl with a smiley face.

I've also been down to Wincanton where my Mum has been sorting out our family home of 31 years which has been sold at last. Strange to think it won't be part of the scenery anymore, but it's time for her to move on. A new chapter is on the horizon.

Parallel to all of this and the bit I've not known how to write. My aunt Julie is in hospital and she has cancer. I have been down this road before so it's feeling familiar and awful. I feel very helpless being so far away. Needless to say I would appreciate any prayers on this front. Spurred into action I have signed up for the Race For Life in Hyde Park in July. So far I have achieved almost 1/5 of my sponsorship target but there is still plenty of time before the race to hit and hopefully break that. My sponsorship page can be found here: Kerry Hates Cancer
I hope I have more positive news on this front soon.

And then, the #nomakeupselfie thing started online and I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed when I saw that my excellent friend Will Brooker (he who got me the Open Top Cars and Girls In T-Shirts compilation) had done his own, pledging to give £1 for every like he received for his picture. I liked it, of course he posted a great picture and the fact that he was going the extra mile spoke to me. Me and Chris were watching TV on Saturday evening while I was absentmindedly scrolling on my phone again and saw this. I had Chris turn the TV off and had an emotional moment. Aren't people just AWESOME sometimes?

Very ok.
Here's a picture of me, Ellie and Will from a long-forgotten pre-children era where we were always partying (and wearing wigs).

Thank you Will. xxx
